This the second installment in the odd serial killer style "porn mash-up" I was attempting where I would splice shots of Jake Taylor from "Code of Conduct" in with a crazy huge muscle guy from Muscle and Fitness. The poses in these two mags are really different only in an academic way. Skin tight workout shorts with no shirt on is straight-guy gay porn. If the muscle guy way just wearing that hat...plus the hard-on, I guess.

With this spread the right side is Jake Taylor from "Code of Conduct" (and my dreams), and the left side is part of an exercise spread from Muscle and Fitness. I know its sort of weird, but the steroidy supertan guy doing the strap overhead extension (and seemingly staring at Jake demonically) was hot to me. This whole project was based on the idea that inserting my true porn into the pornish muscle mag would create a super porn mag. I'm not sure if I succeeded. I am sure that I got tired of the project and did a half assed job. The American way. I'd love to name this guy, but all identifiers have been taped over by pictures of Jake and I can't desecrate this artifact by removing the pictures and looking. It wouldn't be right. I worry a little about copyrights and whatnot and always try to link to appropriate studios etc. even if they I think they suck. From what I can tell though, Manshots magazine is defunct as is Hollywood Sales which produced the featured "Das Butt", so I think I'm in the clear. Manshots was a magazine that basically reviewed porn and reprinted stills from that porn with interviews etc. There was a lot of filler, but I always preferred magazines like this to pure pose/layout porn mags simply because they had more actual sex in them. I actually owned "Das Butt" parts 1 and 2. The title made me cringe a little. It wasn't easy for my closeted college-age self to own a movie that would so easily open me to ridicule, even by a sympathetic friend. However, it was too hot conceptually to ignore. It may be cliché, but sub-mariners in their skivvies "helpin' each other out" in the engine room worked for me. The set was probably the furnace room at a the local high school, but it was dank enough to approximate a u-boat. The threesome between Drew Andrew, Jake Taylor, and Kyle McKenna deserves honorable mention. I haven't watched it in ages because the production quality was pretty poor and I find threesomes too "all over the place" usually. I remember clearly however that the three of them are sweating like crazy throughout the scene which I find so super hot. Not just beads of sweat, but streams running from Jake's chest onto Kyle's ass as they pound away and suck off Drew. Dammit, now I'm gonna have to go jerk off. The second featured movie "Driven" is produced by Falcon, which is of course alive and well. It features my homies Eric Stone and Jake Taylor and I must admit was surprisingly hot when I re-viewed it on Nakedsword.

There are very few things I miss about the VHS age: their bulk, their shitty, grainy quality, the endless fast forwarding past boring scenes while trying to stay hard....but i do miss the boxes. In the same way that album covers lost a lot of their artiness as we moved from LPs to ipods, the art of the attention grabbing box has suffered as VHS gave way to DVD. For you kids out there, porn used to be packaged in unnecessarily large boxes with weird plastic liners that would take up more space on the shelf and thus provide more surface area for the glamour shot of the featured star. There was often a teaser on the spine of the box that would catch your eye, ensuring you'd sheepishly pull it out and take a closer look. I would alway toss the box liner and stash the tape bare in a trunk...my porn collection took up enough space...but I hung onto the hottest box covers. I always thought one day I would use them for something. Wallpaper? I wasn't sure. But for 15ish years I have had a box of collapsed porn boxes. And now I'm sharing: This is a perfect example of good advertising. I didn't like this movie. It didn't properly showcase the hotness of Jake Taylor and the sex was dull. When I was doing my VHS to DVD conversion, this was one I decided didn't make the cut and I tossed it...but the cover is alluring enough that I can remember the excitement I felt when I first purchased it. I have much hotter ones to come, but they all have stars on them that deserve an individual post.

I'll return to "The book", but this blog is supposed to be about gay porn....so lets talk about my first gay porn crush. Jake Taylor was a mid 90's porn star who worked mostly for Catalina (now managed by Channel One). He was hairy (quite unusual back then), which made him jump off the box at me when I wandered into the all male section of the porn store. "The Best of Jake Taylor" was the first gay porn I ever bought and kept (I think I bought a few others but threw them away in gay shame, coupled with frustration that the guys were not to my liking). The first scene is an all oral number with Dane Tarsen that I must have watched thousands of times. The fact that there was no butt-sex made it a little easier for me to deal with...I'd never actually been with a guy at this point and was still freaked out by anal anything. In retrospect the one-camera cinematography and awkward scene jumps are intolerable by today's standards, but that scene was my gold standard for a while. The photos below are Jake from a variety of films, including Blow Hard, Code of Conduct by Falcon, and a few I can't identify.
